Formula 1: Drive to Survive is reportedly coming back for a ninth season.
Season 8 of the docuseries that takes fans behind the curtain of formula 1 landed on Netflix back in February and left fans wondering whether there would be a ninth season of the show.
According to What’s on Netflix, multiple people connected to the crew have listed season 9 as “current” on their online profiles and have been “working on a new season since the beginning of the year”. Netflix is yet to officially confirm the news.
Radio Times has contacted Netflix for comment.
Ian Holmes, chief media rights and broadcast officer at Formula 1, said on The Sports Agents podcast in February that there would “probably” be a ninth season – and possibly even a milestone tenth.
“I don’t think when we set out on this path, we had any expectation that we would be eight series in,” he said, before adding that they are looking at “probably nine going forward, and it would be nice to get to magical ten.”

Holmes added there have been discussions about how the team behind the show can avoid viewer fatigue by “freshening things up” and “changing some approaches”.
But ultimately it all comes down to the streaming metrics. He said: “That’s the brutal thing about this business. You soon find out if people don’t want to watch it anymore.
“But so far, you know, the numbers are holding up super well, really well, I mean, ridiculously well given the number of series.”
The eighth season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive dived into all the drama of the 2025 Formula 1 season, including the Christian Horner sacking storyline and Lewis Hamilton’s debut season driving for Ferrari.
