Almost two years after it aired internationally, Van der Valk season 4 has finally been given a UK release date – and there isn’t too long to wait.
The fourth season of the crime drama, which stars Marc Warren as tenacious Dutch detective Piet Van der Valk, is set to premiere on ITV1 on Sunday 2 August at 8pm on ITV1.
The instalment first aired in the US back in September 2024 on PBS Masterpiece.
Van der Valk season 4 sees Warren and his team with their hands full as they attempt to keep Amsterdam’s crooks in check, while he also has to deal with a “past romance resurfacing”, and he’s also tasked with finding “a way to make one of his beloved team members confront their own mortality”, according to the official synopsis.
Speaking about the fourth season, Warren previously said (via PBS): “[Season 4] felt like a bigger show. It seemed like we had more crew and there was more going on.”
He added: “In episode 1, in particular, it was quite an intricate show, lots of cars and explosions and stunts, and it felt like the whole show had gone up a level.”

Alongside Warren, season 4 stars Maimie McCoy as Lucienne Hassell, Emma Fielding as Julia Dahlman, Darrell D’Silva as Hendrik Davie, Azan Ahmed as Eddie Suleman, and Kim Riedle as Kalie Tenkers.
