The David Dhawan Film Festival is going on in PVR and to celebrate the legendary director, the multiplex chain organized a fireside chat. It involved David Dhawan talking about his life and films with his son, Varun Dhawan. Incidentally, both are also gearing up for the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The comic caper will arrive in cinemas on June 5.

Varun Dhawan reveals, “My father started walking bare-bodied a lot after working with Salman Khan!”

David Dhawan worked with Salman in multiple films. Varun remarked, “When you work with Salman Khan, you also change. Somewhere you start feeling that you are Salman Khan! I remember my father walking bare-bodied a lot. There was another level of confidence in him.” As expected, the audience couldn’t stop laughing over this revelation.

David Dhawan smiled and simply said, “What a guy to work with!” Varun added, “That’s the swag he has. That’s the way he makes you feel. You and even my mother told me that he makes you feel very young. He has made me feel loved.”

David Dhawan revealed, “When I worked with him for the first time was in Judwaa (1997). I used to feel he’s disinterested. Lekin yeh meri galat fehmi thi. He was quite interested. But it took me a while to realize. I even told producer Sajid Nadiadwala, ‘Yeh kaise kaam karta hai yaar’! But Sajid knew the truth. Salman and I ended up working in so many films and we have a family-type relationship now. I used to sit with him in the evening and have drinks with him. At times, I used to wake him up and take him for the shoot! I used to open the cupboard and even take out his outfit.”

He added, “I had a great time. Our films have done so well. And I also became close to his family. I made two films for his brother (Sohail Khan) as well, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya (2005) and Partner (2007).”
