“You have to stop staring at that. You’re gonna burn your eyes out!” But you can stare at this all day! Pixar has premiered an extra cute animated short to enjoy online via their YouTube channel. This isn’t an official short film released by Pixar, per se, but it is still a short film made by Pixar and it is directed by a storyboard artist / story supervisor who works at Pixar. Mother’s Nature is a 3-minute animated short with a series of fun vignettes about moms trying to teach their kids lessons. Featuring the voices of Maureen Russell & Jenna Louie Lohouse as the moms in this short. The scenes explore how familiar parental phrases are reimagined through the lives of various animals and plants. It’s a very fun and very quick little short – more of an experiment and fun video to share online than anything to watch in theaters. Most of all, it just makes me wish Pixar was still attaching new short films in front of their new movies ever year. I miss Pixar shorts.

Thanks to Pixar for debuting this streaming on their own YouTube channel. Their original intro: “Mother’s Nature is a series of vignettes with a playful twist on what it means to be a mom, whether you’re a turtle, parrot or anything in between. See more animated shorts on The Pixar Show on Pixar’s YouTube page!” 🐦 Mother’s Nature is an animated short film directed by Valerie LaPointe – a storyboard artist from Pixar Animation Studios, first joining the studio for the 2008 short film Presto. She was also story supervisor on Toy Story 4 and wrote / directed Pixar’s short series Dream Productions for Disney+. The short is produced by Claire Munzer and Paige Johnstone.
