Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County battle it out in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday for a spot in the Championship.
Steven Schumacher’s side, who are hoping for redemption after losing in the 2024 play-off final, beat Bradford 2-0 on aggregate in their semi-final to set up the Stockport showdown.
Bolton last played in the Championship in the 2018/19 campaign but they’ve also spent a season in League Two since the last time they were in the second flight.
Bolton were a Premier League regular previously, yet the same can’t be said for Stockport who were playing in the National League just four years ago.
Stockport, who beat Stevenage 3-0 on aggregate in their play-off semi-final, are hoping to reach the second tier for the first time since the 2001/02 season as well as land their fourth promotion since 2019.
