Mexico will hope to make the most of their home advantage when they meet Ecuador in the round of 32 in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The co-hosts have enjoyed a perfect start to the World Cup after winning all three of their games without conceding to progress to the knock-out stages as Group A winners.
Mexico boss Javier Aguirre rested star man Raúl Jiménez for their final group game against Czechia and the Wolves forward is likely to return to the XI, despite the team scoring three times.
Gonzalo Plata scored a dramatic late winner in Ecuador’s last group match against Germany, sparking wild celebrations from head coach Sebastián Beccacece and helping La Tri progress to the knockout rounds as one of the best third-placed teams.
It’s only the second time in the nation’s history that they have been beyond the group stage and Beccacece will be hoping to continue their run by stunning the home crowd.
England or DR Congo await the winners in the round of 16.
