Wouter Vrancken’s Hearts tenure begins in Austria, where the Scottish side face Sturm Graz to kick off their Champions League qualifying campaign on Tuesday evening.

The Dutchman has been brought in to replace Derek McInnes, who left to join Rangers alongside former Jambos captain Lawrence Shankland.

The Edinburgh outfit fell gut-wrenchingly short of the Scottish Premiership title last term, losing to Celtic on the final day, but their second-place finish means they have a shot at playing in Europe’s elite club competition this term.

Hearts enter at the second round of Champions League qualifying and will need to win three two-legged ties to secure their place in the League Phase.

First up is the trip to Sturm Graz, who finished second in the Austrian Bundesliga and played both Old Firm clubs in the Europa League last term.
