Following the intense season finale of Off Campus, fans are eager to know why Dean hates Hunter Davenport. The feud between the two hockey players did not exist in the original books. So, viewers are wondering what led to this bad blood in the television adaptation.

Why does Dean hate Davenport in Off Campus series?
The finale of Off Campus Season 1 saw Dean get into a physical altercation with Hunter Davenport. The show had already established that there was bad blood between the two, which is the reason why Dean was vehemently against Hunter joining the Briar University hockey team.
When asked about why they hated each other, Logan’s sister Jules shares, “Well, they’re both bougie b**ches who vacation in the Hamptons, so it could be any number of things. All I know for sure is Hunter went to high school with Dean’s sister.”
The show’s creator, Louisa Levy, revealed the reason behind the creative choice of introducing a feud between Dean and Davenport. The two players did not have a rivalry in the original books by Elle Kennedy. Speaking withTV Guide, Levy shared that the writers wanted to “throw a wrench” into Dean and Allie’s relationship.
Earlier in the show, Dean had strongly declared that Hunter has a “piss-poor attitude, and I’m not f****ng playing with him.” The feud further escalated when it was revealed that the mysterious stranger whom Allie, Dean’s love interest, had a one-night stand with is actually Davenport.
Dean and Allie had a complicated friends-with-benefits arrangement, which ended with Dean catching feelings for her. However, before he can confess his feelings to Allie, she had proposed that they take a time out from their strange relationship and sleep with a stranger to lower the stakes, as she didn’t want to jump into a serious relationship after her recent breakup with Sean.
Allie chose Davenport to hook up with without knowing who he actually is. They did not exchange real names as “the benefit of being complete strangers is [they] don’t owe each other anything.”
In the final episode, Dean discovers that it was Davenport whom Allie had slept with, sparking a furious outburst. The confrontation ultimately erupts into a violent bar fight. The season ends on a cliffhanger with an utterly confused Allie. It leaves the audience curious about the origin of the feud and its connection with Dean’s sister. Season 2, which was renewed ahead of the show’s premiere, is expected to have the answers.
