The World Snooker Championship has returned for 2026 – and we can guarantee all sorts of thrilling matches at The Crucible in the coming days as the tournament begins to hot up.
Several big names were in action on the opening day yesterday (Saturday 18 April), including Mark Williams and Mark Allen, while defending champion Zhao Xintong was also in action on day one as he took on Liam Highfield.
That latter clash was the only one of the opening day fixtures to reach a conclusion, with the other matches set to continue today – including the blockbuster early tie between Allen and Zhang Anda.

Drama at the Crucible will continue to bubble over the next few days as players aim to clear their first hurdle.
