Invincible creator Robert Kirkman and co-showrunner Simon Racioppa may have assembled one of animation’s most star-studded casts, but one legendary actor remains their white whale. The duo addressed their ongoing and increasingly entertaining pursuit of the elusive star during a recent interview.

Invincible creator will keep offering Bryan Cranston new roles
Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed his team will continue pursuing Bryan Cranston for a voice role in the animated series.
Kirkman and showrunner Simon Racioppa addressed the ongoing effort during a recent DiscussingFilm interview. Kirkman stated, “We’re not going to stop offering him roles… He’s not going to beat us.”
Robert Kirkman says they still haven’t been able to convince Bryan Cranston to sign on for a role in ‘INVINCIBLE’.

Racioppa joined in on the lighthearted exchange and jokingly urged the interviewer to contact Cranston on their behalf before Kirkman caught him. Kirkman added, “No, that’s desperate. Don’t do that, Simon. We’ll get him.”
The pursuit of the Breaking Bad star has become a recurring tradition for the Invincible production team. Kirkman previously revealed in a 2025 DiscussingFilm interview that his team has approached Cranston about a role every season. He noted at the time, “Literally, Bryan Cranston is the only actor that has turned us down.”
The Breaking Bad connection to Invincible has grown significantly without Cranston’s involvement in the series. Season 3 featured his former co-stars Aaron Paul as supervillain Powerplex and Jonathan Banks in another role. The animated series boasts a stacked voice cast led by Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, and Sandra Oh.
Season 4 of Invincible recently concluded its run on Amazon Prime Video with an action-packed Viltrumite War adaptation. The series introduced Lee Pace as the long-awaited villain Thragg in the latest season.
Cranston maintains a busy live-action schedule with projects including Seth Rogen’s Apple TV+ comedy The Studio and the Malcolm in the Middle revival for Disney. It seems Kirkman remains undeterred in his mission, as he declared, “We’re coming for you, Cranston.”
