“If you ain’t first, you’re last.” Preach, Ricky! 🏁 Sony Pictures has revealed a quick new trailer for the 20th anniversary celebration of the sports comedy classic Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, the hilarious Adam McKay + Judd Apatow racing movie originally from 2006. This was a big hit back then, McKay’s major follow-up to Anchorman, though with a very particular NASCAR racing flavor to it (that not everyone was into it –but they were missing out). Will Ferrell stars as the titular Rocky Bobby, who stays atop the heap thanks to a “win at all costs” pact with his best friend and teammate, Cal Naughton, Jr. But when a French Formula One driver makes his way up the racing ladder, Ricky Bobby’s talent and devotion are put to the test. John C. Reilly co-stars as his racing friend Cal, with a fun cast including Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole, Michael Clarke Duncan, Leslie Bibb, Amy Adams, Andy Richter, and Jane Lynch. Sony is sending this back to US theaters for a few nights at the end of June (and also on July 1st) before it hits 4K Blu-ray in August this summer. Shake and bake! Even if racing ain’t your thing, this is still an all-out fun buddy comedy with some of the most ridiculous Ferrell & Reilly scenes. Back in theaters soon.
Here’s the new 20th Anniversary trailer for Adam McKay’s comedy Talladega Nights, from YouTube:

NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) is a national hero because of his “win at all costs” approach. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly), are a fearless duo – known as “Thunder” and “Lightning” by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 & #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When flamboyant French Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) challenges “Thunder” and “Lightning” for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing’s top driver. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is directed by American comedy filmmaker Adam McKay, his second feature film at the time after making Anchorman (2004) and before Step Brothers (2008). The screenplay is by Will Ferrell & Adam McKay. Produced by Jimmy Miller & Judd Apatow. McKay’s Talladega Nights first opened in theaters in August 2006 earning a solid $163M at the box office. Sony Pictures is re-releasing the racing comedy in theaters again June 28th & June 30th & July 1st this summer. Who’s in?
