“Would you like to see where time comes from?” 🕰️ Why yes I would! Signature Entertainment has revealed their own official UK trailer for a strange fantasy adventure movie called Momo and the Time Thieves. Though this is a German production adapted from an old book, it’s entirely in English so it can connect with audiences worldwide. It first premiered at last year’s Zurich Film Festival and opened in theaters in most of Europe last fall. Though there’s still no final US date for it either. Momo, an orphan girl, must do battle with the soulless and grey men who stealthily take over her city and steal time. When a powerful international corporation begins stealing people’s time, everyone suddenly turns away from her, including her best friend, Gino. Then, a mysterious turtle appears and leads Momo to Master Hora, the guardian of time. Together, they can take on the time thieves. This modern interpretation of Michael Ende’s book about a world under constant time pressure is more relevant than ever. Starring Martin Freeman, Alexa Goodall, Araloyin Oshunremi, Claes Bang, Laura Haddock, and Kim Bodnia. The turtle looks awesome! The rest of the movie I’m not sure about. There’s some cool visuals in it, but it’s hard to tell if it’ll be worth a watch or not.
Here’s the new trailers (+ poster) for Christian Ditter’s film Momo and the Time Thieves, on YouTube:

The young orphan girl Momo (Alexa Goodall) lives in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater and has an open ear for everyone in the neighborhood. But her favorite thing to do is spend her days with her best friend Gino (Araloyin Oshunremi). When a powerful international corporation starts stealing everyone’s Ame, suddenly no one has Ame for her anymore. Not even Gino! Momo is desperate. But then a mysterious turtle appears and leads her to Master Hora (Martin Freeman), the guardian of Ame. Together they can take on the Ame thieves – but will their plan work? An exciting race begins. Momo and the Time Thieves, also known as just Momo, is written and directed by German writer / filmmaker Christian Ditter, director of the films French for Beginners, The Crocodiles & The Crocodiles Strike Back, Vicky and the Treasure of the Gods, Love Rosie, How to Be Single, The Present previously, plus the series “Girlboss” and “Biohackers” recently. Adapted from the novel by Michael Ende. Produced by Christian Becker. This initially premiered at the 2025 Zurich Film Festival and opened in Germany last fall. Signature Ent. debuts Momo and the Time Thieves in UK cinemas starting August 14th, 2026 this summer. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned.
