Cutting your teeth on the world’s longest-running soap opera is no mean feat – and yet actress Beth Nixon has thrown herself into Coronation Street’s training ground, delivering an engrossing performance as one of the most repulsive villains we’ve seen in a serial drama for years.

Sickening Megan Walsh’s stint on the cobbles could be coming to an end, as the jury deliver their verdict on whether she’s guilty of grooming and abusing student Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).
Will the youngster’s testimony prove sufficient, securing Megan’s comeuppance? The outcome from the courtroom is the type of edge-of-your-seat drama that Corrie is famed for, and whatever the ruling, Will has a tricky road ahead to navigate.
Elsewhere, there’s a new face in Weatherfield – Tyrone Dobbs’s father, Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) arrives after being tracked down by his granddaughters, and poor Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) faces a new dilemma when son Alfie Franklin is hospitalised.
The cause? The actions of an unruly landlord… Idris Nazir (Junade Khan)!
Here’s everything happening in the episodes of Coronation Street that air during week commencing 6 July.
8 Coronation Street spoilers for next week
1. Megan Walsh’s trial comes to an end – guilty, or not guilty?

The moment of truth finally arrives when Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) receives a phone call confirming that the jury has reached its verdict. With Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) offering quiet reassurance, the pair head into court where the decision is delivered.
But has justice finally been done? Is Megan guilty, or not guilty?
Later, Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) reassures Will that while he’s become the talk of the school, the attention is entirely positive and everyone is rooting for him.
Having both suffered at Megan’s hands, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and Will agree it’s time to put their differences behind them and move on. However, Will makes a life-changing decision when he announces he’s quitting athletics, unable to separate the sport from the painful memories of Megan.
2. Alfie Franklin is hospitalised after ingesting mould

Abi’s frustrations mount as she leaves yet another unanswered voicemail for her elusive landlord about the damp-ridden flat, admitting to Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) that she doesn’t even know who owns the property.
Meanwhile, a grand bouquet arrives for Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) from cousin Idris, who later turns up in person hoping an apology will smooth things over.
Abi’s day takes an unexpected turn when she arrives at Speed Daal while still on the phone to her landlord. As Idris’s mobile suddenly starts ringing, she realises she’s finally come face-to-face with the man responsible for her flat.
Later that evening, as she settles Alfie into bed, a worrying patch of black mould is revealed behind his headboard.

The situation soon turns into every parent’s nightmare when Abi wakes to find Alfie struggling to breathe. Panicking, she calls estranged husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell), who rushes them to A&E. Seeing the commotion, Idris grows concerned as Abi and Kevin carry Alfie from the building, while Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) heads straight to the hospital after hearing the alarming news.
Doctors decide to keep Alfie in intensive care overnight while further tests are carried out.
Back at the flat, Idris and Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) are horrified when they discover just how badly the property has been affected by mould, prompting Idris to head to the hospital. There, doctors confirm everyone’s fears, explaining that Alfie’s breathing problems have been caused directly by the mould in his bedroom and advising Abi to move out as soon as possible.

Leanne and Alya waste no time pointing out to Idris that whoever sold him the flat must have known about the damp, insisting someone needs to be held accountable. Meanwhile, Abi can’t help noticing Idris and Brody acting suspiciously.
Her concerns deepen when she tells Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) that she witnessed Brody forcing a man into the back of Idris’s car, convinced the pair were involved in something sinister. Later, after Brody contributes towards the household bills, Sally admits to husband Tim (Joe Duttine) she’s beginning to think Idris is a bad influence who’s dragging Brody down the wrong path.
Once Alfie is discharged, Abi prepares to move into Kevin’s house for the time being. Returning to the flat to collect some belongings, she’s stunned to find Idris and Brody already hard at work with paint and tools, determined to tackle the damp.

Abi isn’t interested in last-minute repairs, however, and makes it crystal clear she’ll be taking Idris to court.
Later, Brody introduces dad Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to his new employer in the Rovers, leaving Idris visibly unsettled when he discovers Brody’s father is a police officer! Before long, Sally encourages Abi to seek legal action over the mould and suggests Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) is the ideal solicitor.
3. Sam Blakeman makes a realisation

Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) admits he overreacted and apologises to dad Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), acknowledging that everything he did came from a place of love.
Accepting he’s exactly where he needs to be, Sam draws a line under their disagreement.
Meanwhile, Hope tells Will she’s planning to visit Sam after school and warmly invites him to come along, too.
4. Tyrone Dobbs comes face-to-face with his dad, Ross

Hope and Ruby (Billie Naylor) return home expecting an empty house, but Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) quickly realises the girls are hiding something. Cassie later catches them engrossed in an email on Hope’s phone, but they refuse to reveal what they’re up to, insisting it’s all part of a surprise for Tyrone.
The secrecy continues as Hope quietly assures Ruby that everything is ready for the following day. Although Fiz presses for answers, the girls promisesthere’s nothing sinister going on.
The big reveal finally comes when they proudly announce they’ve secretly submitted Tyrone’s DNA for testing – and have tracked down his biological father.

Later, Cassie warns the man, Ross, that Tyrone is stubborn and unlikely to agree to meeting him, but he encourages her not to give up.
Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) soon takes a shine to the newcomer and strikes up a conversation, leaving Tyrone and Cassie stunned when they arrive at Speed Daal to find Steve, Tracy and Ross already sharing a table. Forced to join them, Cassie grows increasingly uneasy as her son begins warming to his dad, before agreeing to meet him properly for a chat.
5. Christina Boyd opens up about a major dilemma

George Shuittleworth’s (Tony Maudsley) hopes of a romantic evening are dashed when Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) claims she’s taken on another cleaning job and turns down his dinner invitation.
Later, George apologises wholeheartedly to Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) for ever believing she could have been capable of murder, vowing to make amends. However, Christina’s mysterious behaviour continues when her phone rings and she hurriedly rejects the call, her reaction not going unnoticed.
Glenda Shuttleworth’s (Jodie Prenger) suspicions soon get the better of her and, while Christina is away from the table in Roy’s Rolls, she searches through her handbag. What she discovers leaves her completely stunned.

Unable to shake the feeling something isn’t right, George secretly follows Christina to the precinct, where he’s horrified to see her warmly embrace another man! Unable to contain himself, he confronts the pair and demands an explanation.
With nowhere left to hide, Christina finally admits the full extent of the trouble she’s in. George urges her to be honest with the people closest to her and hope they’ll find it in themselves to forgive her.
6. Cassie Plummer’s relationship with Steve McDonald hits a stumbling block

Tyrone and Fiz’s romantic evening with a bottle of prosecco gets off to the perfect start, only for Steve, Cassie and Tracy to unintentionally derail the mood by joining them. Frustrated, Cassie admits she’s had enough of Tracy constantly trying to come between her and Steve, while Tyrone reminds her that loving Steve also means accepting Tracy will always be part of his life.
Deciding she’s waited long enough, Cassie makes a dramatic declaration of love by getting down on one knee in the cab office and proposing to Steve.

Things soon take another painful turn when Cassie spots Steve helping Tracy with a flower delivery, looking every inch the happy couple. Hurt and humiliated, she heads to the Chariot Square Hotel, where she drowns her sorrows with vodka before flirting with a stranger at the bar. Unaware Steve is desperately trying to find her, Cassie makes a reckless pass at the man.
As pictures show, this fella is none other than Ross, Tyrone’s dad!
Later, a remorseful Cassie returns home, insisting she simply needed some time alone. She accepts Hope’s invitation to a family meal at the Bistro, but when Steve suggests they forget the recent drama and start afresh, she quietly buries her guilt.
7. The investigation into Theo Silverton’s murder rumbles on
Kit is left frustrated when he’s removed from Theo’s (James Cartwright) murder investigation, while Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) and DS McLaughlin revisit Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) statement at the salon.
Maria sticks firmly to her original account that she spent the night with husband Gary Windass (Mikey North), but once they’re gone she demands he finally tell her exactly what happened.
Later, Maria confides in Kit that their marriage is crumbling beneath the weight of his lies and secrecy, admitting she’s reached the end of her tether.
Meanwhile, Lisa pays Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) visit and reveals the investigation has reached a dead end. He’s noticeably indifferent response immediately raises her suspicions.
8. Betsy Swain and Dylan Wilson vow to spend more time together
Determined to make every remaining moment count before she leaves for London, Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) turns up at Speed Daal and tells boyfriend Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) she’ll happily watch him work if it means they can spend more time together.
