A troubling time lies ahead for Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) in Coronation Street.
For weeks, she’s been visibly pained by the presence of Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield), the estranged father of her son Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall). When the family gather to celebrate Ross’s birthday, Cassie can’t contain her anguish any longer and prepares to tell the truth about their troubled backstory.
Meanwhile, Jodie Ramsey’s (Olivia Frances Brown) secret start to unravel following the discovery of her mysterious trinket box, and she’s forced to try and win back Lily Platt’s (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) affections.
Plus, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) meets Idris Nazir (Junade Khan), life may never be the same again for Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), and Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) struggles with the idea of returning home after stroke.

1. Jodie Ramsey causes more trouble for the Platt clan
Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) is left reeling after Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) reveals it was her sister Jodie who attacked Sarah, and wastes no time confronting her. But when she visits Sarah in hospital, another mystery comes to light when she tells them about Jodie’s elusive trinket box.
Unbeknownst to the adults, Lily stumbles across the hidden box herself after creeping downstairs in search of her games console.
Later, Shona and husband David (Jack P. Shepherd) return home with their daughter Harper expecting a quiet family reunion, only for Jodie to gatecrash the celebrations. After revealing she’s confessed everything to the police about the assault, she drops another bombshell by asking if she can move back into No. 8 until her court case.
While the family struggles to process Jodie’s request, Lily quietly grills her aunt about the mysterious trinket box, as Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) visits Sarah behind bars with news of Jodie’s astonishing confession.
The pressure soon mounts as David and Shona finally confront her over what was discovered inside the box. But is she telling them the whole truth?
Jodie later scores unexpected brownie points with Lily after stepping in to rescue Harry Platt (Joshua Leavy) from a group of bullies, even snapping photos of the culprits before they flee. David is impressed by her quick thinking – but should he be?
Later, she quietly embarks on another secret project. Posing online as Shona, she joins a parenting forum and invents a heartbreaking backstory about being a first-time mum traumatised by childbirth.
2. Sam Blakeman is introduced to Idris Nazir
Fresh home from hospital, Sam is wrapped in cotton wool by Leanne and Toyah Battersby (Jane Danson and Georgia Taylor, and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price). He’s thrown when Leanne reveals she’s started seeing someone new.
Keen to put his mind at ease, she introduces him to boyfriend Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) at Speed Daal, where an honest heart-to-heart proves unexpectedly therapeutic. Sam finds an unlikely confidant in Idris, who shares his own teenage struggles with anxiety.
Nick and Toyah are relieved to find Sam feeling much more positive after the conversation. But Idris soon turns his attention elsewhere after learning just how much cousin Alya (Sair Khan) has on her plate.
Deciding now could be the right time to buy her out of the restaurant, Idris makes Alya a surprising proposal. But it quickly becomes clear he has another revelation up his sleeve.
3. Cassie Plummer reaches breaking point over Ross Wilkes
Cassie’s mission to expose Ross gathers pace as she enlists Steve McDonald’s (Simon Gregson) help in her latest scheme. Showing him an online forum dedicated to reviews of ex-boyfriends, she reveals she’s uploaded Ross’s photo in the hope his former partners will come forward with horror stories.
Steve urges her to delete the post before it backfires – but Cassie has no intention of backing down.
Her gamble soon appears to pay off when she’s contacted by one of his exes, Alison. With Ross recognising the name immediately, Cassie seizes her chance, gathering everyone in the Rovers as Alison accuses Ross of stealing from her and making threats during their relationship.
Despite the accusations, Ross’s fortunes continue to improve when he lands a job at Highfield Prison and announces he’s staying in Weatherfield for good. While Tyrone, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Ross raise a glass to the future, Cassie can barely hide her fury.
Steve urges her to bide her time, convinced his true colours will eventually emerge.
Later in the week, when Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) insists on hosting a birthday tea for Ross, Cassie reaches breaking point. How much longer can she keep her past bottled up?
Her desperation soon pushes her into dangerous territory. Spotting Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) preparing Ross a smoothie before his first day at work – where he’s due to take a drugs test – she secretly crushes up Tyrone’s painkillers and slips them into the drink.
But she doesn’t realise she’s dropped the empty pill packet.
The evidence soon catches up with her when Steve discovers the missing tablets in her cardigan pocket. Horrified by what she’s done, he ends their relationship on the spot, while Tyrone throws her out.
4. Sarah Platt is struggling on the inside
Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) nursing a hangover after a heavy night, and husband Gary Windass (Mikey North) suggests she forget work and spend the day with him instead.
But when David catches sight of the pair together, he’s furious that Maria has taken the day off while he’s been forced to shut the salon to visit Sarah in prison. His harsh verdict that Sarah is exactly where she belongs leaves Maria seething.

Later, Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) prepares to visit Sarah herself, telling wife Lisa (Vicky Myers) that she’s struggling badly behind bars while Harry is finding life without his mum incredibly difficult.
Lisa is left deeply unsettled.
5. Ben Driscoll feels betrayed by son Ollie
Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) starts his first shift at Speed Daal, with Leanne leaving Alya to show the new recruit the ropes.
But there’s an awkward surprise in store when dad Ben (Aaron McCusker) walks in to find Ollie suited up in chef’s whites, and now working for the competition.
6. The war between Adam Barlow and Idris Nazir rumbles on
The feud between Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Idris escalates, as the pair clash in the Rovers over Abi Webster’s (Sally Carman-Duttine) legal claim regarding mould in her flat.
Adam refuses to apologise for taking the case, leaving Idris simmering.
Alya is disappointed to discover Adam is acting for Abi, but makes it clear she can’t dictate who her partner represents. Idris, however, has revenge on his mind and offers Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) £100 to intimidate his opponent.
Later, Adam urges Abi to reject Idris’s £5,000 settlement offer, convinced she’ll get more if the case goes to court. But Alya warns Abi that pursuing legal action could leave her with nothing at all.
7. Nina Lucas makes a damning accusation about Sienna Milburn
A nervous Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) prepares for her first date with Sienna Milburn (Charlotte Tyree), with housemate Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) doing everything she can to boost her confidence.
The date appears to be a roaring success, but the mood changes instantly when Sienna receives a mysterious phone call and abruptly leaves, offering only a vague explanation. Nina isn’t convinced.
Her suspicions only deepen when she later stumbles across Asha and Sienna together at the flat, before making another alarming discovery when her wages go missing.
Convinced Sienna has stolen the cash, Nina accuses her outright. Sienna is horrified by the allegation and, branding Nina a jealous ex, storms out.
8. Betsy Swain struggles with her return home
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) pays Betsy a visit in hospital, helping her practise her language exercises as she continues her recovery.
There’s encouraging news when Carla reveals she will be discharged the following day, but Betsy admits to being frightened about returning home.
Back at the house, Lisa, Carla and Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) do everything they can to make her feel comfortable, converting the living room into a downstairs bedroom while she recuperates.
But faced with the reality of her new circumstances, Betsy makes a heartbreaking decision, asking Lisa to tell the London College of Fashion that she won’t be returning.
9. Debbie Webster’s confusion worsens
Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) decides to make the most of the summer by hosting a garden party, complete with homemade pizzas, cocktails and a soak in the hot tub.
Fresh back from holiday, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) is only too happy to join in the fun. But as the drinks flow, there’s an upsetting reminder of her young onset dementia.
When Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) wanders over to check on everyone, a confused Debbie fails to recognise him and accuses him of staring at the women in their swimwear.
A gentle explanation from Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) leaves Debbie horrified by her mistake, prompting her to apologise profusely before insisting she’s giving up alcohol – blaming the booze on her confusion.
