Now, actor Ali Fazal has opened up about the ambitious scale of the film and what audiences can expect from the theatrical adaptation of one of India’s most successful franchises.

Ali, who became a household name with his portrayal of Guddu Pandit in the hit crime drama series, shared that the upcoming film will significantly expand the Mirzapur universe while taking his iconic character into a far more intense and layered space. Speaking about the project, Ali Fazal said, “With Mirzapur: The Film, we’re not just continuing the story, we’re expanding the universe in a much bigger way. The scale, the stakes, and the intensity have all grown. Guddu Pandit as a character has evolved so much over the years, and this film takes him to a space that is far more layered and explosive.”

The actor also spoke about the challenges of adapting a massively loved streaming franchise for cinema and how the storytelling needed to evolve for the big-screen format. “Bringing Guddu to the big screen is a completely different experience. The energy required, the emotional depth, and even the physicality – it all has to be dialled up because cinema demands a certain magnitude. There’s a rawness and intensity that fans loved in the series, but here, everything is heightened. It’s more immersive, more gripping, and definitely more intense,” he added.

Ali further reflected on revisiting the character after years of audience attachment and fan following. According to the actor, stepping back into Guddu Pandit’s shoes for a theatrical outing carried both excitement and responsibility. “For me as an actor, it’s been both exciting and challenging to revisit Guddu in this format. You’re not just playing a character anymore you’re carrying forward a legacy that audiences have deeply connected with. We’ve tried to stay true to that while also pushing boundaries and exploring new dimensions. I genuinely feel that fans are going to experience Mirzapur like never before. This is bigger, bolder, and far more cinematic, and I can’t wait for audiences to witness Guddu Pandit on the big screen,” Ali concluded.
