Prime Video has announced the exclusive global streaming premiere of Thamma, the supernatural horror-comedy from Maddock Films, following its successful theatrical run. The film began streaming today on Prime Video in India and across more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films along with Amar Kaushik, Thamma was directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and written by Niren Bhatt, Arun Fulara, and Suresh Mathew. The film starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles, with Paresh Rawal and Faisal Malik playing pivotal characters. It also featured special appearances by Varun Dhawan, Abhishek Banerjee, Nora Fatehi, and Malaika Arora.

Set in a mythical world, Thamma expanded the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). The story followed Alok (Ayushmann Khurrana), regarded as humanity’s last hope, and Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna), a mystical being navigating a realm consumed by darkness, as they confronted Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a powerful ruler threatening the balance of the world. Blending horror, comedy, romance, and folklore, the film received a strong response from audiences during its theatrical run.

As part of the interconnected MHCU, Thamma included narrative links and cameo appearances connected to earlier franchise titles such as Stree, Stree 2, Munjya, and Bhediya, further strengthening the shared cinematic universe and hinting at future crossovers.

Manish Menghani, Director and Head of Content Licensing at Prime Video India, said the platform was pleased to bring Thamma to audiences worldwide as part of its ongoing collaboration with Maddock Films. He noted that the film carried forward the studio’s signature blend of folklore and genre-driven storytelling and expressed confidence that its mix of supernatural elements, humour, and emotion would resonate with global viewers.

Producer Dinesh Vijan shared that Thamma was envisioned as a larger-than-life story rooted in Indian folklore, while still offering a fresh cinematic experience. He added that the global streaming release marked an important step in expanding the reach of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.

Ayushmann Khurrana said the film appealed to him for its originality and its unique blend of supernatural themes with emotion, humour, and romance. He added that he was glad the film was now streaming on Prime Video, allowing it to reach a wider audience.

Rashmika Mandanna described Thamma as a new and enjoyable experience, particularly as it marked her first outing in the supernatural comedy genre. She expressed excitement about the film finding new viewers worldwide through its digital release.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui said portraying Yakshasan was a distinct experience for him, as the role differed significantly from his earlier work. He added that he looked forward to audience reactions as the film began streaming on Prime Video.
