Ayushmann Khurrana, known for balancing socially relevant themes with mainstream entertainment in films like Vicky Donor, Andhadhun, Badhaai Ho, Article 15, and Dream Girl, recently opened up about collaborating with veteran filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya for Yeh Prem Mol Liyaand returning to the space of wholesome family entertainers.

Speaking during The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Season 3, produced by Gautam Thakker Films, the actor spoke candidly about the admiration and reverence he holds for the filmmaker, whose cinema has long been associated with family values, emotional storytelling, and clean entertainment.

Reflecting on his experience of working with Sooraj Barjatya, Ayushmann shared, “When I go to his set, first I bow to the set and then I touch his feet, I truly feel like I have come to a temple.”

The actor further described Barjatya as one of the most spiritually grounded personalities in the film industry. “He is such a spiritual person, very clean-hearted. I think there is no one more saintly than him in the entire industry. He’s still the purest and goes by his convictions,” Ayushmann said.

Ayushmann Khurrana also highlighted the filmmaker’s unique ability to create stories where every family member has an equally important role, something that has become a signature element of Sooraj Barjatya’s cinema over the decades.

“He always carries the family audience along with him in his films, everyone is a hero: mother, father, uncle, aunt, everyone. So, that’s like a complete family entertainment film. The last time I did a film like that was Badhaai Ho, where from nani to dadi, everyone was the main character of the film,” he explained.

The actor added that collaborating with Barjatya marks a return to a genre deeply rooted in tradition and emotional connection. “And this time again, I’m going back to where the family is the star of the film, and only Sooraj Barjatya can do that,” he said.

Over the years, Sooraj Barjatya has built a strong legacy through iconic family dramas like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. His films continue to resonate with audiences for their emphasis on relationships, values, and togetherness.
