A series of offensive social media posts from TV presenter Ashley Cain have reportedly been unearthed, throwing into question the future of his docuseries Into the Danger Zone.

The Guardian claims that comments posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, found Cain refer to women as “sl*gs”, “sl*ts”, “psychos” and “b***hes”.

A spokesperson for the BBC told Radio Times: “We are very clear we expect the highest standards of behaviour from everyone who works with or for the BBC.

“When allegations are brought to our attention we take them seriously. We will consider this information carefully and do not intend to comment further at this stage.”

Radio Times understands that Into the Danger Zone season 2, which began filming earlier this year, has not been scheduled for transmission at this stage.

In the series, the former footballer turned reality TV star travels to the world’s most dangerous places, interviewing young men who live on the fringes of society.

The Guardian’s investigation saw Cain accused of sending female users on the social media app abusive messages with offensive sexualised language.

The BBC is said to have been unaware of the social media posts and has asked the independent production companies that engaged Cain to review their social media checks undertaken at the time.

Radio Times has reached out to Ashley Cain’s representatives for comment.

Cain previously played for Coventry City FC before moving into reality TV, rising to fame on Ex on the Beach. He later appeared on Celebrity MasterChef, Five Star Hotel, Beach Body SOS and fronted BBC Three reality series Go Hard or Go Home.

At the time of Into the Danger Zone beginning filming on season 2, Cain told his followers on social media: “Trust me on this one, this is by far the craziest location yet. It’s been a complete eye opener. I can’t wait for you to see this series.

“I want to showcase to the world some of the environments that people have to live in and some of things people truly have to go through to just exist. I think its gonna be worthwhile experience.”
