Netflix has confirmed a release window and four characters for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, with the long-awaited anime follow-up now set to arrive later this year.

The update came alongside a new visual for the season, giving fans their clearest look yet at the next group of characters heading into Night City.
The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners became one of Netflix’s biggest anime success stories when it launched in 2022, introducing viewers to a brutal standalone story set in the world of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077.
Now, the follow-up is moving closer, though Netflix has stopped short of announcing an exact release date.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is currently scheduled to premiere in autumn 2026, with the new season once again streaming exclusively on Netflix — as revealed in posts on both the official Netflix and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
Rather than directly continuing the story of David Martinez and Lucy, the next instalment will introduce a new cast for another standalone 10-episode story. Studio Trigger is also returning, keeping the same studio behind the first anime attached to the follow-up.
The newly unveiled characters are Weak Kingsley, D, Roman Carax and Talia Yang, who all feature in the latest key art. Although, Crunchyroll has also unveiled some character descriptions, giving us an insight as to who’s featured in this new crew.
Weak Kingsley is described as a veteran Edgerunner who was once known as “King”, but now lives in the shadow of his former reputation.
D is a Snake Nation Netrunner who is driven by revenge after the killing of his clan.
Roman Carax is a young cinephile searching for real stories in a city that has largely abandoned cinema for braindances. Talia Yang, meanwhile, comes from the corpo towers, but has been shaped by Maelstrom culture, with her character description placing particular focus on chrome and violence.

The new season will be directed by Kai Ikarashi, who previously directed the sixth episode of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Girl on Fire. Masahiko Otsuka is handling the screenplay, while Ichigo Kanno (known for being the key animation on the exceptional Delicious In Dungeon is serving as character designer.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has been described as “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge”, with the sequel once again set to explore the violent, spectacle-driven world of Night City.
The first season followed David, a street kid trying to survive in a future dominated by body modification, technology and crime. While the sequel is bringing in a new cast, it’s expected the Night City adventures in season 2 will be as wild and emotionally heartbreaking as the first round of Edgerunners.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will stream on Netflix in autumn 2026.
