“Let’s finish this…” IFC has unveiled the first official trailer for an extra bonkers new stoner comedy movie titled Idiots, opening in theaters at the end of August later this summer. Described as a “raucous and wildly entertaining descent into madness,” this first premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film FEstivla under the more raunchy title The Sh&theads, but that was changed for the actual release to the more tamer Idiots. Which is also very much an accurate description of these characters! Two unqualified bozos (starring Dave Franco and O’Shea Jackson Jr.) are hired to transfer a spoiled, rich teen named Sheridan to rehab, when their straightforward gig quickly spirals into dangerous mayhem. With Franco & Jackson, this also stars Mason Thames (from The Black Phone & How to Train Your Dragon) as Sheridan, Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun, and Peter Dinklage. Sundance states: “Blair treats us to his signature absurdist sense of humor and douses it with gasoline and psychedelics, crafting an uncanny world where the worst intentions net the highest yields.” It’s hilarious! I’ve seen it – and it’s the ultimate “so dumb but so fun” movie to see this year.

This initially premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (under the title The Shtheads).
