“Senior leadership knows, and is doing nothing.” Sony Pictures has unveiled the first look teaser trailer for The Social Reckoning, the highly anticipated follow-up to David Fincher’s 2010 film The Social Network about Facebook. This time, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin returns but is also directing the movie in addition to writing it. The Social Reckoning, a companion piece to The Social Network, will debut in theaters starting in October this fall. “Every revolution begins with a reckoning.” This sequel follows the story of Frances Haugen, a young Facebook engineer, who enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz, a Wall Street Journal reporter, to blow the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets. Starring Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, with Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong as the slimy Mark Zuckerberg trying to get out of being responsible for any of the problems Facebook has caused. Not only an impressive cast in here, but it’s thrilling to see them switch things up to focus on how dangerous & idiotic Zuckerberg has become. I’m certainly looking forward to this – seems like it will rattle some cages.

A companion piece to the hit film The Social Network, Sorkin’s original screenplay is based on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s shocking exposé The Facebook Files. The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets. The Social Reckoning is both written and directed American writer / filmmaker Aaron Sorkin, director of the movies Molly’s Game, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Being the Ricardos previously, and writer of the original The Social Network. Based on articles written by Jeff Horwitz. Produced by Todd Black, Peter Rice, Aaron Sorkin, Stuart Besser. Sony Pics debuts Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning in US theaters starting October 9th, 2026 this fall. Your thoughts?
