For actor Vaibhavi Malhotra, one such lesson came from watching legendary screen icon Helen during a script-reading session for Brown. The Zee Studios-backed crime drama brought together an eclectic cast featuring Karisma Kapoor, Helen, Soni Razdan and several emerging talents. While many newcomers might have been intimidated by the presence of such cinema veterans, Vaibhavi found herself inspired by something entirely unexpected.

Recalling her first interaction with Helen, Vaibhavi says she was struck not by the legendary actor’s stature but by her childlike excitement for the craft. “I’ll never forget the first reading session. The moment Helen ma’am picked up the script, her eyes lit up. It was such a beautiful thing to witness,” Vaibhavi shared. For someone who has spent decades in the industry and continues to command immense respect, Helen’s enthusiasm left a lasting impression on the young actor. “Even after so many years of work, she still approached the script with curiosity, passion and excitement. Watching that was incredibly inspiring.”

According to Vaibhavi, the moment became a reminder of what truly sustains a long and meaningful career in cinema. “In an industry where success can sometimes make people cynical, she still carries that innocence and love for storytelling. That’s something I hope I never lose.”

The actor also recalled the warmth she received from the senior members of the cast despite not sharing significant screen time with them. “The warmth from Helen ma’am, Karisma ma’am and Soni ma’am was very special. They made the atmosphere so welcoming.”

As she embarks on her own journey in the entertainment industry, Vaibhavi says the lesson she learnt from Helen is one she hopes to carry forever: no matter how successful one becomes, the excitement of telling a story should never fade.

And if there is one takeaway from her encounter with the veteran star, it is this; legends are often defined not just by what they have achieved, but by how passionately they continue to show up for the work.
