The cast of FX’s Alien: Earth season 2 has expanded, with Sam Spruell and Jerome Flynn among the new additions joining the fray.

The show, which has begun production on season 2 in London, serves as a prequel to Alien, with the first season set in the year 2120 – two years before the events of the original film.
Flynn, who’s best known for playing Bronn in Game of Thrones, and Spruell, who stars as Prince Maekar Targaryen in prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will join the cast alongside Tracey Ullman (Tracey Ullman’s Show). Details of the new trio’s roles are yet to be confirmed.
Flynn and Spruell will also star alongside Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage, who was previously announced to be joining the cast of season 2, with the new season functioning as a Westeros reunion of sorts.
Spruell has also worked with Alien: Earth creator and showrunner Noah Hawley before, playing the memorable role of Ole Munch in Fargo season 5.

Meanwhile, returning season 1 cast include Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Babou Ceesay, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav and Jonathan Ajayi.
Also returning are Erana James, Lily Newmark, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Moe Bar-El and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
Plot details for season 2 are yet to be announced.

The show was renewed for a second season a few weeks after the first one ended, with FX chairman John Landgraf saying in a statement: “It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future.”
He continued: “Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories – and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary.
“We can’t wait to get to work on the next season of Alien: Earth, as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development.”
