Prime Video’s Gram Chikitsalay is set to return with its second season, bringing audiences back to the fictional village of Bhatkandi and the world of Dr Prabhat Sinha. Ahead of the new season, actors Amol Parashar and Vinay Pathak have opened up about revisiting the series and what continues to make the story resonate with viewers.

Gram Chikitsalay Season 2: Amol Parashar and Vinay Pathak tease new challenges in Bhatkandi as Prime Video series is set to return
The first season followed Dr Prabhat Sinha, a highly qualified doctor who leaves behind the comfort of city life to take charge of a struggling Primary Health Centre in Bhatkandi. However, his efforts to improve healthcare services were met with unexpected challenges, including a lack of infrastructure, an unmotivated staff, and a village that placed its faith in local healer Chetak Kumar rather than modern medicine.
Over the course of the season, Prabhat worked to gain the trust of the villagers while navigating personal and professional obstacles. One of the key storylines revolved around Sudhir, whose vaccine-related controversy ultimately revealed his struggle with dissociative identity disorder. Prabhat’s efforts to support him highlighted the series’ focus on healthcare awareness and social stigma. The introduction of Dr Gargi also added a new dynamic to the narrative, with her evolving relationship with Prabhat becoming one of the central arcs of the show.
Reflecting on the return of the series, Vinay Pathak shared what draws him back to the world of Gram Chikitsalay. He said, “What always brings me back to this world is the sheer joy of it, the happiness of reuniting with the cast, travelling to some truly unexpected and beautiful places to shoot, meeting local people, and experiencing their food and culture. It’s not just a series; it’s the entire milieu that it represents. What I love most about Gram Chikitsalay is its humanity, its honesty, and the vulnerability of a simple village where life appears straightforward, yet complex challenges still exist. Season two explores those challenges through the lens of the healthcare system, and what makes it compelling is how every character, whether it’s the doctors or the villagers, tries to navigate and solve those problems in their own way. That’s what gives the story its heart.”
Lead actor Amol Parashar also spoke about continuing the journey of Dr Prabhat and the audience response to the first season. “We had a great response to Season 1 of the show, and I personally received a lot of love for the character of Dr Prabhat. One symptom of the love is that we are back with Season 2. It’s great to be able to continue Prabhat’s journey in his attempt to bring about genuine change in the healthcare setup of Bhatkandi. The approach remains the same, since the character and his goal remain the same. Prabhat was loved a lot for his upright, honest and earnest nature, and he continues to be that kind of person,” he added.
The upcoming season will also address several unanswered questions left behind by the first instalment. A mysterious envelope from the CMO’s office remains unopened, Sudhir’s recovery journey is still unfolding, and the relationship between Prabhat and Gargi appears poised for further development.
With familiar faces returning and new challenges awaiting the residents of Bhatkandi, Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 is expected to continue exploring the intersection of healthcare, community, and human relationships in rural India.
