Heartstopper Forever is only a month away, bringing one of the the most iconic screen romances of recent years to its final chapter – but the question is, will it all end in tears?

The first trailer for Heartstopper Forever, released earlier this month, teased that Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) will be struggling with questions about the future as their paths look set to diverge.
Nick is particularly distressed over their imminent separation, fearing that he’s been so devoted to Charlie since they got together that he’s lost touch with his own goals and desires.
Although Charlie and Nick have always been the main focus of Heartstopper, there are plenty of other beloved couples in the show that will be facing similarly daunting decisions as they reach the end of their school years.
In short, prepare to feel all of the emotions! If you’re as excited as we are, read on for all your essential information on Heartstopper Forever, including when you’ll be able to watch on Netflix, who is returning to the cast – and that emotional trailer.
Heartstopper Forever release date

Heartstopper Forever will be available to stream on Netflix from Friday 17 July 2026.
Notably, this is roughly two weeks later than the sixth and final Heartstopper graphic novel is released, meaning readers will be first to know what becomes of Charlie and Nick’s rollercoaster romance.
Heartstopper Forever is based primarily on that forthcoming volume, with Alice Oseman handling both the source material and the screen adaptation, as was the case throughout the TV show’s historic run.
The feature film farewell commenced filming last summer, with Netflix marking the occasion by sharing an image from the set of stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke posing with Oseman.

Heartstopper Forever cast: New and returning
Heartstopper Forever sees almost every cast member of the TV series reprise their roles for one last story, led by Joe Locke and Kit Connor as besotted boyfriends Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson.
After some uncertainty over who exactly would appear, the Heartstopper Forever trailer and first-look images confirm most of the usual suspects are here, including the show’s other popular couples.
That means we can expect more from Yasmin Finney (Elle), William Gao (Tao), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Jenny Walser (Tori), Darragh Hand (Michael), Rhea Norwood (Imogen) and Leila Khan (Sahar).
As if that weren’t enough characters to reintroduce, Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Bradley Riches (James) and Bel Priestley (Naomi) are also back, along with Fisayo Akinade and Nima Taleghani as teachers Mr Ajayi and Mr Farouk.
Last but not least, Eddie Marsan will appear as therapist Geoff Young, who remains a crucial support for Charlie on his mental health journey.

One notable absence is Olivia Colman, who was not available to reappear as Nick’s mother, Sarah. Rather than introduce a different family member, as they did in season 3, the Heartstopper team has opted to recast the character as Anna Maxwell Martin.
No doubt the iconic TV star, known for Motherland, Line of Duty and, most recently, Apple TV’s Star City, will fit right in.
Oseman commented: “We are deeply grateful for Olivia’s beautiful performance as Sarah in seasons 1 and 2 of Heartstopper… and we know that her performance will live on in the hearts of every Heartstopper fan.
“We are overjoyed to welcome the incredible Anna Maxwell Martin into the role of Sarah for Heartstopper Forever. Anna perfectly embodies Sarah’s gentle, down-to-earth energy, and it was magical to witness her scenes with Kit Connor during the film shoot.”

Continuing the trend of having high-profile LGBTQ+ actors cameo in the show – from Stephen Fry to Jonathan Bailey – Heartstopper Forever boasts an appearance from Doctor Who alum and all-round industry legend Sir Derek Jacobi.
Behind the camera, Wash Westmoreland is the Heartstopper Forever director, whose previous work includes the powerful and Academy Award-winning Still Alice, starring Julianne Moore.
In summary, here’s an overview of the Heartstopper Forever cast:
- Joe Locke as Charlie
