At the Met Gala 2026 in New York, Isha Ambani made a striking statement by placing heritage jewellery at the forefront of her appearance. Rather than relying solely on couture, her look focused on transforming a family archive of rare gemstones into a cohesive, high-fashion narrative.

At the core of her ensemble was a jewellery-integrated bodice designed by Gaurav Gupta, featuring over two hundred old mine-cut diamonds embedded directly into the garment. The integration blurred the line between jewellery and couture, creating a luminous surface that functioned as both structure and ornament. The concept was styled and creatively directed by Anaita Shroff Adajania.

The jewellery extended beyond the bodice into a layered composition of statement pieces. Around her neck, Isha wore two graduated necklaces of old mine-cut diamonds, together exceeding 250 carats. These were paired with a choker featuring a prominent emerald centrepiece sourced from Lorraine Schwartz’s collection, adding a contrasting depth of colour to the diamond-dominant palette.

Her earrings followed a similar design language, featuring cascading old mine-cut diamonds arranged in a vertical formation that balanced architectural structure with fluid movement. The overall effect maintained a sense of symmetry while allowing each piece to stand out individually.

A significant aspect of the look was the provenance of the jewels. Most of the pieces were drawn from the private collection of Nita Ambani, curated over decades. The collection reflects a longstanding tradition of preserving rare gemstones as part of cultural and familial legacy. Among the standout elements was a historic sarpech worn at the back, believed to have originated from the collection of the Nizam, further adding a layer of historical significance.

The detailing extended to rings and sleeve accessories, all of which were also sourced from the same private archive, ensuring continuity across the look. Each piece contributed to a broader narrative centred on heritage, craftsmanship, and the evolution of Indian jewellery on a global platform.

By foregrounding jewellery as the primary storytelling element, Isha Ambani’s Met Gala appearance moved beyond conventional styling. Instead, it highlighted the role of heirloom pieces as both personal and cultural artefacts, positioning them within a contemporary, international context.
