The latest season of a Netflix Original featuring Justin Theroux is a massive success on the streaming platform. Starring alongside an Oscar-nominated actress, the series showcases the dynamics of a dysfunctional family that owns a basketball team.

Running Point Season 2 tops Netflix streaming charts
According to Flix Patrol’s April 26 report, Running Point Season 2 has acquired the #1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 Shows in the United States. It has remained in the top spot since it premiered last week on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Moreover, the series is in the top 10 in over 50 countries.
The list also includes Sex Education star Asa Butterfield’s Unchosen at #2, Oscar Issac’s Beef Season 2 at #5, and the animated show Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 at #6. Meanwhile, Charlize Theron’s Apex leads the charts for films.
Running Point Season 2’s success shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Season 1, which debuted on February 27 last year, rose to #1 in the week of March 3-9, 2025 (via Tudum). Furthermore, it received high praise from critics and viewers alike. It currently has a Tomatometer score of 80% and a Popcornmeter score of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series follows Isla Gordon, who unexpectedly becomes the president of her family-owned basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves. While her brothers continue to underestimate her abilities, Isla navigates the challenges of running the company in a male-dominated industry.
Season 2 features Cam’s return to the company, from whom she succeeded in the position after he had to quit following a scandal. This amped up the chaos while portraying how dysfunctional her family truly is.
Running Point’s cast features Justin Theroux as Cam, Kate Hudson as Isla, Drew Tarver as Sandy, Scott MacArthur as Ness, Brenda Song as Ali, Chet Hanks as Travis, and Toby Sandeman as Marcus, among others. Meanwhile, Ray Romano, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, and Richa Moorjani are some of the new additions this year.
