Kate Hudson‘s acclaimed musical drama film from Focus Features has finally found a new streaming home on Netflix. For her leading performance in the 2025 movie, she received multiple Best Actress nods, including an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination.

As of today, Hudson’s 2025 music biopic film Song Sung Blue is officially available to stream on Netflix. In the movie, Hudson played real-life musician Claire Sardina, while her husband and Lightning & Thunder bandmate, Mike Sardina, was portrayed by Hugh Jackman. The story chronicles the couple’s nearly two-decade-long musical career as a Neil Diamond tribute band, as well as the personal struggles they’ve faced. The ensemble cast also included Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi.
“Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams,” reads the official synopsis.
Song Sung Blue was written and directed by Craig Brewer. He was also serving as a producer along with John Davis and John Fox. It was based on Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary of the same name. The movie was executive-produced by Erika Hampson and Greg Kohs. The creative team also consisted of director of photography Amy Vincent, composer Scott Bomar, editor Billy Fox, production designer Clay A. Griffith, and costume designer Ernesto Martinez.
Hudson was most recently seen in the newest season of Netflix’s sports comedy TV show Running Point, which has already been renewed for a third season. The Almost Famous vet is currently attached to star in the upcoming rom-com movie Hello & Paris with Javier Bardem.
