“Two girls. One wrong move. Zero clue what to do.” Tune in, light up, and get trippy! Neon has revealed the funny official trailer for a wacky weird stoner comedy movie called The Wrong Girls, marking the feature directorial debut of writer Dylan Meyer (writer of Moxie). Hitting theaters in August next month. Meyer teams up with actors Kristen Stewart & Alia Shawkat to tell this tale of two friends who get in over their heads into some glowing psychedelics and bumble around talking to their kitties. “It’s a stoner girl comedy, and it’s really stupid,” Stewart explained. “I think you’ll like it.” Two codependent best friends living from paycheck to paycheck and bong rip to bong rip get caught in a case of mistaken identity that throws their lives into chaos. They end up trying out these experimental psychedelics and find themselves with lingering powers like telepathy. But they also go on the run from the Danish bad guys who just want to get their drugs back. Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat star as Frankie & Molly, along with LaKeith Stanfield, Tony Hale, Zack Fox, with Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani as the voices of their fluffy black cats, plus Kate McKinnon & Geena Davis, and maybe Cate Blanchett, too. It looks hilarious! Glad to see a stoner comedy letting these two women have all the fun and be the bumbling idiots. Roll with ’em in theaters soon.

“Best buds, worst adults.” Frankie & Molly (Kristen Stewart & Alia Shawkat) are codependent boneheads who have spent the last 10 years blissfully in a fog of weed smoke, co-signing each others’ bad choices and screening adulthood’s increasingly insistent calls. Just as Molly’s boyfriend asks her to move in with him, Frankie is mistakenly given a briefcase full of glowing vials of an experimental psychedelic. That briefcase turns out to be the beginning of the trouble… The drugs leave Frankie & Molly with lingering telepathic abilities, including a connection to their cats. Their possession of the drugs also puts them in the path of white-suited Danish villains who want their property back and begin to see Frankie & Molly as disposable human test subjects. The Wrong Girls is both written and directed by American writer / filmmaker Dylan Meyer, making her feature directorial debut with this after one other short; she also wrote the screenplays for XOXO and Moxie previously. Produced by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg via Point Grey Pictures, Allison Rose Carter, Alex McAtee, Maggie McLean, Dylan Meyer, Jon Read, Kristen Stewart, James Weaver.
