Netflix’s Man on Fire is proving to be more than just a strong debut success. After its explosive launch and continued performance in its second week, the action-thriller series is now seeing growing momentum that could significantly impact the future of the franchise. This includes a potential second season!
According to Netflix’s latest Global Top 10 update, the first season is not only holding its ground but continuing to generate strong viewing numbers. That sustained interest is a major boost for Man on Fire season 2 prospects, signaling that the show may be on track for a renewal.
A powerful debut in just four days
Man on Fire premiered on Netflix on April 30 with a seven-episode first season, but its impact was immediate. Despite only being available for part of the weekly tracking window (April 27–May 3), the series still managed to dominate Netflix’s global rankings.
In its debut window, the show achieved:
- No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV chart
- 11 million views
- 61 million hours watched
These figures are especially notable because they were generated in just four days of availability, not a full tracking week. Of course, the show’s strong debut increased its chance of a season 2 renewal. However, what truly strengthens the case for a Man on Fire season 2 is not just its debut performance. But its ability to hold audience attention after the initial spike.
Now that the series’ second week (May 4-May 10) on the platform has just passed, the newly released numbers show that Man on Fire season 1 was just as popular as it was in its first week. In fact, the action-thriller series was still holding on tight to the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV chart for its second week.
In addition, it managed to secure 12.6 million views. That’s a 1.6 million-view increase compared to its first week. This shows that the series is not losing momentum but actually continuing to expand its audience even after its initial launch surge. If Man on Fire can keep this up, we could be looking at a season 2 renewal very soon!
What’s great is that the show’s creator Kyle Killen clearly wants to come back for a second season. While the first installment wrapped up the main plot, it ended in a way that set up a Man on Fire season 2.
At the end of the season 1 finale, we see Creasy offered a new job assignment by Director Moncrief at the CIA. It’s a mission that involves people from his past. While we never actually get to see Creasy accept the assignment, this is likely where a second season would pick up. We just need Netflix to give the green light!
