Nawazuddin Siddiqui says, “I don’t consider myself an icon. I am still learning”
Despite delivering widely noted performances in films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Manjhi – The Mountain Man, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Thackeray, the actor said he does not believe he has reached a defining stage as a performer.
“I don’t consider myself an icon. I haven’t become an actor yet, I am still learning, still evolving,” he said, describing acting as a process that continues over time rather than a fixed milestone.
Elaborating further on his approach to the craft, he added, “Becoming a good actor is a lifelong pursuit, and even a lifetime feels too short for it,” emphasising the discipline and continuity he associates with performance.
Known for choosing varied roles across genres, Siddiqui said the idea of growth remains central to his work as an actor. His remarks reflect a perspective in which each role is treated as part of an ongoing journey rather than a culmination.
Siddiqui will next be seen in Main Actor Nahi Hoon and Tumbbad 2, with several other projects currently in development.
