Netflix just set the stage for its splashiest dance comedy yet, and fans finally have a release date to mark. The streamer unveiled a stacked cast and fall premiere window for the upcoming film.

Hasan Minhaj’s Best of the Best release date set for new Netflix comedy
Netflix’s Tudum reveals Best of the Best will stream on September 18 this fall. The dance-based comedy film stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Priyanka Kedia, and Hasan Minhaj together. The project marks a reunion between Ramakrishnan and director Lena Khan.
Khan previously directed four episodes of the Ramakrishnan-starring Never Have I Ever. She also helmed Flora & Ulysses before taking on this project. Minhaj and Prashanth Venkataramanujam co-write and produce for 186K Films. Jonathan Eirich produces and Ryan Halprin executive produces through Rideback.
The film follows two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali. Ramakrishnan plays Maya while Kedia takes on the role of Anjali. Both characters join their college’s competitive Bollywood dance team together. They soon discover the road to winning nationals is raucous and cutthroat.
Dance teams have become spaces for South Asian community building on campuses. Best of the Best celebrates the vibrancy of Bollywood fusion dance culture. The film also explores the growing pains of young adulthood. Lasting friendships anchor the story throughout its runtime.
The cast features several notable additions beyond the three leads. Chaneil Kular, Ankur Rathee, and Shreya Navile join the ensemble. Lilly Singh, Sasha Bhasin, and Janina Gavankar round out the lineup. Nico Greetham, Nihar Duvvuri, and Saara Chaudry also appear in the film. Newcomers Becky Alex, Amryn Khurana, and Tanishq Joshi complete the roster.
Ramakrishnan recently appeared in Freakier Friday after her breakout role. Kedia previously starred in Everything To Me before landing this part. Minhaj gained widespread recognition through Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj.
Best of the Best streams exclusively on Netflix starting September 18.
