A fresh twist on a classic quiz format is on the way as Jeopardy! breaks into the sports arena. The franchise is expanding again, this time with a new spin-off built around athletes and sports media personalities, bringing competitive trivia to a whole new audience on streaming platforms.

ESPN Jeopardy! gets confirmed on Hulu and Disney+
Jeopardy! is officially adding a sports-focused version, titled ESPN Jeopardy!, with Joe Buck set to host (via Variety). The show has been picked up by Disney+ and Hulu, though a release date has not been announced yet. The project marks another major expansion for the long-running quiz franchise into streaming.
Unlike the traditional format, this version will feature ESPN personalities competing against each other. The game will follow a tournament-style setup, with contestants playing for charities they support. The winner will walk away with a $500,000 grand prize along with the title of champion. This adds higher stakes to the competition.
The questions will lean heavily into sports knowledge. Producers describe it as “Jeopardy! for sports fanatics,” meaning fans can expect topics centered around major leagues, athletes, and iconic moments. This is not the first attempt at a sports-themed version, either. A previous show, Sports Jeopardy!, aired between 2014 and 2016 on the now-defunct Crackle platform.
The new series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television, with Michael Davies serving as executive producer. It also joins a growing list of spin-offs, including Celebrity Jeopardy! and other themed editions that have kept the brand active across different platforms in recent years.
Buck’s involvement ties into his long career in sports broadcasting. He has been a key voice in NFL coverage for decades and currently works on Monday Night Football. His experience across multiple major sporting events makes him a natural fit to lead a fast-paced, sports-driven quiz show like this.
