Nikkhil Advani has opened up about his experience of working with Bhuvan Bam, offering insights into the latter’s approach to performance and his transition into mainstream storytelling. In a recent interaction, Advani spoke about directing Bhuvan in The Revolutionaries, highlighting the sincerity and work ethic the actor brings to the set. According to the filmmaker, these qualities are often seen in some of the industry’s most established stars.

Nikkhil Advani praises the dedication of Bhuvan Bam; compares him to Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Akshay Kumar
Sharing his thoughts, Nikkhil said, “Bhuvan is my favourite. He is so sincere and hardworking. He has really worked hard to be where he is and I have seen that in people like Salman, Akshay and Shahrukh. That is why they know what works for them. There were times, especially the first couple of days for The Revolutionaries, I was trying to get Bhuvan to play my Rash Behari Bose and I could feel that I was literally constricting him. So I went up to him and said how would you play it and he did something which was so different from what was inside my head. So I said go for it. After that I didn’t direct him. I said you know what you’re doing, just take off from there. He understands the 10 million people who follow him”.
Advani’s remarks place Bhuvan Bam in the same conversation as actors like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Shah Rukh Khan—all of whom are often credited with having a strong understanding of audience preferences built over years in the industry.
The filmmaker also reflected on how his initial approach to directing Bhuvan evolved during the shoot. What began as a more guided performance soon shifted into a collaborative process, with Nikkhil Advani allowing the actor to interpret the character in his own way. This, he suggested, resulted in a more organic and effective portrayal.
Bhuvan Bam, who rose to prominence through digital content, has steadily expanded his presence into long-form storytelling. His growing body of work reflects a broader trend of creators from online platforms moving into mainstream cinema and series, often bringing a distinct perspective shaped by direct audience engagement.
With The Revolutionaries, this crossover continues to gain momentum, as filmmakers and performers explore new ways of blending traditional storytelling with contemporary sensibilities.
