World Outlander Day has been celebrated in true style, with the news that MGM+ and Sony are celebrating the occasion by setting a premiere date for the release of Outlander: Blood of my Blood season 2.

It’s now been revealed that the anticipated second instalment of the Outlander prequel series will debut on Saturday 19 September, meaning we’re just a few months out from new episodes.
As per usual with the Outlander spin-off and its original predecessor, we can imagine that new episodes will land on MGM+ every week, so we’ll all be able to get our fill of the series for some months to come after it premieres.
Thankfully, it hasn’t been too long of a ‘Droughtlander’ period between seasons and seeing as Outlander only just wrapped up its monumental final eighth season last month, fans needn’t have to mourn the loss of the original show for too long before Blood of my Blood comes in to save the day.

Just a couple of months ago, we got a teaser for the new season of Blood of my Blood, which dramatically teased the return of lead couples Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine).
Also returning for season 2 are Tony Curran (Mary & George) as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross (California Schemin’) as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford (Grace) as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander (Pistol) as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill (Industry) as Ned Gowan.
The last we saw of Henry and Julia, they were separated in the Scottish Highlands in the 18th century but were eventually reunited at the standing stones of Craigh na Dun.

As per the series description: “The first glimpse at season 2 picks up at that moment and reveals a distraught Julia alone with their baby. Separated from his love and hope, Henry must grapple with his mental health, as he fights to find his way back to her.”
It continues: “Meanwhile, the forbidden relationship between Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie seemed to conquer all odds, but their romantic escape was cut short as fiery crosses were lit and the 1715 Jacobite Rising began, thrusting the clans into war. In Season One, they chose each other over their families, but now they must prioritise their clan loyalties, as Brian fulfils his obligation to fight and Ellen seeks to make things right with her family.
“As season 2 unfolds, the two young couples will be tested and separated once again by forces beyond their control, as every clan chooses a side in the rebellion.”
