Prime Video has announced a feature-length documentary charting the life and work of Lily Allen.
The announcement follows on from the release of her critically-acclaimed album West End Girl, and aims to offer an intimate portrait of the singer’s life and career.
The retrospective documentary – which will launch globally in 2027 – will chart Allen’s extraordinary journey, from the “Queen of MySpace” who changed the rules of the music industry, to the cultural force she is today.
Featuring interviews from those who know her best, the documentary “builds a rich and revealing portrait of an artist defined by her creative fearlessness”.
The synopsis continues: “This is a story of resilience, reinvention, and an artist reclaiming her narrative on her own terms. This is Lily Allen as she’s never been seen before. Raw, real, and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight.”
The documentary is directed by award-winning filmmaker Mat Whitecross (Oasis: Supersonic) and is co-produced by Magna Studios (Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger) and Mint Pictures (Oasis: Supersonic).
This is one of the latest celebrity documentaries to be announced, with Disney Plus recently confirming an Oasis documentary, featuring the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam Gallagher in over 25 years.
The documentary will be debuting in select IMAX and cinemas worldwide for a limited time from 11 September, with the film then landing on Disney+ later this year.
The film will feature unprecedented access and never-before-seen footage, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight at the helm.
And just last month, Paramount+ announced Tulisa: The Reckoning, charting the rise of Tulisa Contostavlos from N-Dubz, The X Factor and the intense media scrutiny that followed, including the infamous ‘Fake Sheikh’ scandal.
Alongside her personal story, the series will also follow Tulisa’s campaign for press reform and stronger media regulation.
