Director Anurag Basu has put an end to speculation surrounding his upcoming untitled film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Amid rumours of delays and uncertainty over the project’s schedule, the filmmaker has confirmed that production is progressing as planned and the film remains on track for release later this year.

The yet-untitled musical drama has generated considerable buzz ever since it was announced, largely due to the fresh pairing of Kartik Aaryan and South star Sreeleela, who is making her Hindi film debut with the project. With Basu at the helm and music by Pritam, expectations around the film have remained high.

Addressing reports about delays, Anurag Basu stated, “We are very much on schedule and the shoot is progressing well. It’s a film we believe in deeply, and we are bringing it to audiences this year as intended.”

The filmmaker had also clarified recent claims suggesting that most of the film had already been completed. Speaking to Variety India, Basu said, “That the majority of the shooting is done is a myth. I’ve not shot more than 45 days for this film. The shooting has just started.”

The clarification indicates that while production is underway, a substantial portion of the film is still left to be shot. Recent schedules reportedly took place in Chalsa, West Bengal, before the team moved to the scenic locations of Srinagar and Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir for further filming.

The project first grabbed attention when its initial promo was unveiled in February 2025. Early glimpses showcased Kartik Aaryan in a rugged and intense avatar, while also hinting at the film’s emotional and musical core. Since then, fans have closely followed every update about the movie.

Rumours had earlier linked the project to the Aashiqui franchise or possible titles such as Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, but Basu has reportedly clarified that the film is a standalone musical drama.

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, the film is directed by Anurag Basu, with music composed by Pritam. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.

With filming now in full swing and the director confirming the schedule is intact, anticipation is steadily rising for what could be one of the most awaited romantic musicals of the coming year.
