After much speculation, Jamie Campbell Bower’s role in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has finally been revealed.
The Stranger Things actor was confirmed to be joining the cast last year, and rumours about who he could be playing have been swirling ever since.
Now, Empire Magazine has confirmed that the actor will be playing the Elf Lord and missing husband of Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Celeborn, in the upcoming instalment.
Bower described the character, who was previously played by Marton Csokas in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, as a “lover-boy”.
He also revealed that he drew inspiration for the dynamic between Celeborn and Galadriel – who in the Rings of Power have been apart for centuries – from Tolkien’s relationship with his wife.
“This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien’s relationship with Edith for the time that they were apart,” Bower said. “I really feasted on that idea. Celeborn has had to find a way to survive whilst longing for something that he so dearly loved and so dearly missed as well.”
Clark added: “She’s kind of rude to him in the books. She’s the queen! But Jamie looks exactly like how I would imagine Celeborn. He’s such an Elf.”
Season 3 is set to feature a time jump, and will take place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, “as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last,” the synopsis teases.

Returning cast members for season 3 include Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel and Robert Aramayo as Elrond.
Meanwhile, Alongside Bower, other new additions to the cast include Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes), Andrew Richardson (Ponies), Zubin Varla (Andor) and Adam Young (Sex Education) in yet-to-be-confirmed roles.
