Sameera Reddy is set to return to films with the upcoming Sanjay Dutt-starrer Aakhri Sawal, and the actress has now spoken about why she chose the project for her comeback. Sharing her thoughts on returning to cinema, Sameera Reddy said, “I didn’t step back into films to play it safe and Aakhri Sawal is far from comfortable. My understanding of RSS was limited and largely shaped by half-knowledge, but after reading the script, I realised how much of it didn’t add up. That realisation stayed with me. This isn’t a film that reassures you -it unsettles you, challenges your beliefs, and pushes you to question what you’ve always accepted. I wanted my return to stand for something fearless, something that sparks debate and this does exactly that.”

Her statement has drawn interest, particularly because Aakhri Sawal is positioned as a film inspired by true events and centred around themes expected to provoke discussion. The teaser, unveiled on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, offered an early glimpse into the narrative and introduced audiences to the film’s larger backdrop connected to the history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

The project stars Sanjay Dutt in a leading role and marks one of the actor’s notable releases lined up for 2026. Alongside Dutt and Sameera Reddy, the film also features Tridha Choudhury, Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborthy and Mrinal Kulkarni in key roles.

Aakhri Sawal is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang. The film is presented by Nikhil Nanda and produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt. It is co-produced by Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey and Ujjwal Anand. The story, screenplay and dialogues have been written by Utkarsh Naithani.

Sameera Reddy, who was a familiar face in Hindi cinema during the 2000s, has remained away from acting projects for several years while maintaining an active presence in the digital space and public life. Her return with a subject-driven film is likely to attract interest from longtime fans and industry watchers alike.
