It’s a good time to be a Sullivan’s Crossing fan.

Just days before season 4 landed on Netflix, it was confirmed that the hit Canadian drama will return for a fifth season, with production reportedly set to get underway in Nova Scotia later this summer.
After a finale that saw Cal propose to Maggie and raise fresh questions over the couple’s future – including whether they’ll take in young Tracy – there’s certainly no shortage of storylines for season 5 to explore.
Exactly where those stories will lead, however, remains a mystery – even to star Chad Michael Murray.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping, the actor admitted he’s unusually in the dark about the next chapter, revealing he has “no idea what we’re doing in season 5”.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate.
Here’s everything we know so far about Sullivan’s Crossing season 5, including when it could arrive, who’s expected to return and what the new episodes might have in store.
Sullivan’s Crossing season 5 release date speculation: When could it return?
There is no confirmed release date for Sullivan’s Crossing season 5 just yet, but filming is reportedly set to begin in Nova Scotia in the coming weeks.
If the series follows a similar production schedule to previous seasons, new episodes could premiere in Canada in March or April 2027, before making their US debut on The CW shortly afterwards.
The season would then be expected to arrive on Netflix once its weekly broadcast has concluded, although this has yet to be officially confirmed.
Is there a trailer for Sullivan’s Crossing season 5?
A trailer for Sullivan’s Crossing season 5 has not yet been released. This page will be updated once one becomes available.
Who could be in the Sullivan’s Crossing season 5 cast?

We’d expect the following to all return:
- Morgan Kohan as Maggie Sullivan
- Chad Michael Murray as Cal Jones
- Tom Jackson as Frank Cranebear
- Andrea Menard as Edna Cranebear
- Lindura as Sydney Shandon
There’s also Reid Price (Rob Shandon), Dakota Taylor (Rafe Vadas) and Fuad Ahmed (Amir Malik), who are likely to return.
But there are two notable question marks. Scott Patterson, who played Maggie’s father Sully, exited before season 4 and is not expected to reprise the role, having said the “creative differences were becoming untenable”.
Amalia Williamson, who has played Lola Gunderson since the pilot, has said her return is uncertain due to her role on another series, You’re Killing Me. “I would love to go back. I love my Sullivan’s Crossing family. I miss them,” she told Us Weekly.
What could happen in Sullivan’s Crossing season 5?
The season 4 finale left plenty of threads dangling, chief among them Cal and Maggie being asked to take in Tracy after her foster parents were unable to care for her. Murray has called the cliffhanger a springboard for “great storytelling in Season 5”.
He has also floated where he would like to see his character go, telling USA TODAY he wants Cal to “look forward to becoming a father” after previously resisting the idea because of his own difficult relationship with his dad.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping, Murray suggested the show may eventually have to confront the death of Cal’s father, and even mused about a storyline in which Cal falls seriously ill and has to be cared for rather than being “a somewhat leader of the Crossing”.
He is also hoping for a smoother ride for the central couple: “I’m hoping that we can have a whole Season 5 without any red flags, without any lies, and it’s just the two of them taking on the outside world, together as a team”. Nothing about the plot has been officially confirmed.
