The third season of BBC thriller series Vigil is fast approaching, and as such Radio Times has got an exclusive first-look teaser, showing fans what they can expect.
While the moody new teaser is brief, it does show the returns of Suranne Jones’s Amy Silva and Rose Leslie’s Kirsten Longacre, who will this time be investigating the death of a British special forces officer at an Arctic research station.
The third season of the thriller, which is created by Tom Edge and produced by World Productions (Line of Duty), began filming in September 2025, and comes after the second season was released back in December 2023.

The official synopsis for Vigil season 3 says: “DCI Amy Silva (Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Leslie) return for a new case that takes them to a remote Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead.
“Amy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and defuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line.”
The returning cast is filled out by DS Robertson star Gary Lewis and Sir Ian Downing star Dominic Mafham, while newcomers include Jeppe Beck Laursen (The Trip), Steven Miller (Dept. Q), Naomi Yang (Under Salt Marsh), Benjamin Wainwright (Belgravia: The Next Chapter), Tornike Gogrichiani (Drops of God) and Danusia Samal (Red Eye), playing currently unnamed new characters.

When the series was first renewed, Edge said: “I’m delighted that Suranne and Rose are returning for a new adventure. In our third season we travel to the frozen north where the world’s great powers are competing to secure advantages as the ice melts.
“With a brilliant cast and crew assembling to make the show, we hope to deliver an epic investigation that shines a light on issues that will shape the world we all live in.”
Vigil season 3 will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
