*Warning – contains full spoilers for The Bear season 5.*

All eight episodes of The Bear season 5 are now available to stream on Disney+, bringing the acclaimed comedy-drama to an end.
While the first seven instalments tell a story across a single day, the day after Carmy announced his decision to leave the restaurant, the eighth and final episode moves past this, to close out the stories for each of the characters.
So where did we leave Carmy, Sydney, Richie and the rest of the team once the credits started to roll on the final episode?
Read on for everything you need to know about the ending of The Bear season 5
The Bear season 5 ending explained: Did the restaurant get a Michelin star?

No, the restaurant did not get a Michelin star – it got two.
Carmy got a call from Peter Clark, Gary Janetti’s character who visited the restaurant in season 4 for their special fake snow night.
He and the others had believed the Star Man had been at the restaurant the previous night, but in fact he had been there a long time before.
Carmy later relayed the phone conversation he had to Sydney, revealing that he loved everything about the restaurant, from the food to the ambience and the service. He particularly loved Sydney’s scallop dish.
When Sydney asked whether they got a star, Carmy shook his head, before revealing that they got two. The duo agreed to keep the news to themselves until after that day’s service, but shared a hug, with Carmy telling her: “You did it”.
Did Carmy leave the restaurant?

Carmy certainly still seemed set on leaving the restaurant come the end of the episode – however, there was a glimmer of doubt yet, with the potential for him to return.
Towards the start of the episode, Carmy told Cicero that he still planned to leave, as in order “to break patterns, you have to break patterns”. He convinced Cicero to keep the restaurant open, at least in the short term, and also approved Ebraheim’s plan to franchise the Beef window he had been running.
Towards the end of the episode, Carmy attended an interview to become an architectural intern, which had been set up by Stevie. During this, he gave a speech about cooking and his work in restaurants, reliving the good times and the bad. He clearly still had a passion for it, even if it wasn’t to be his future career.
Of course, it still could be. Come the end of the episode, we never found out whether Carmy got the internship or took it, and what his future would hold. Whatever it was, however, he seemed to have come to some sort of peace.
Where did we leave the rest of the team?

In the finale of The Bear, Sydney was set to continue in her role as head chef of The Bear, now anointed with two Michelin stars. Sugar and Tina would also be continuing in their roles, while Marcus said goodbye to Luca, and inherited Carmy’s food journals.
Ebraheim looked set to start a franchise around The Bear’s beef sandwich window, while Richie got the opportunity to go to Japan to attend an international hospitality seminar. At first, he was reticent and fearful, but Carmy convinced him to go.
He was seen on board the plane along with Chef Jess, who he had seemingly finally got together with.

Meanwhile, the episode ended with us witnessing a party Richie threw for his daughter at The Bear, with family and friends all in attendance. Even Claire was there, perhaps suggesting she and Carmy had got back together.
