*Warning – contains spoilers for The Pitt season 2 episode 15, which is yet to be released in the UK.*

As has already been revealed with the departure of Tracy Ifeachor’s Dr Collins from season 1, and Dr Mohan star Supriya Ganesh, who has now left after season 2, the cast of The Pitt is always in flux.
Given this, some may have thought that the season 2 finale was setting up the departure of another key cast member, Sepideh Moafi.
Moafi plays Dr Baran Al-Hashimi, an attending physician who arrived as Dr Robby’s interim replacement in season 2, ahead of his sabbatical.
At the end of the season, Dr Al-Hashimi revealed to Dr Robby that she had a seizure disorder following a childhood viral meningitis infection, one which she had thought was under control, but which had recently reoccurred.

While she stated she was fine to treat patients, Dr Robby insisted that she report her symptoms, and stop practising for a time until it was deemed she was definitively safe to do so.
This could have meant that Dr Al-Hashimi would be absent from the next shift we see in season 3, but Moafi has now told Variety that she will be back in the new episodes.
She did however say that she was unsure how much she’ll be featured or how large her arc will be, telling the publication: “At the moment, I am. I’m not sure to what capacity. I’m positive, I think? Nothing is clear to me as to what’s happening with the story, how many episodes, all that, but I am coming back.”

Moafi also addressed unsubstantiated online rumours that she had a behind-the-scenes feud with Dr Robby star and executive producer Noah Wyle, and the theory that Dr Al-Hashimi’s arc was a form of retribution for this.
“Absolutely not,” she said. “I do not have that power. We’re really great colleagues. Noah and I have always had a great working relationship, which is why it actually felt safe to do the darker, dirtier work in episode 15, particularly because, between set-ups, we were shooting the s**t and laughing.
“So that’s completely false that there’s a personal sort of beef or rivalry between us, at least not that I’m aware of. You can check with Noah, but I don’t know about this.”
The Pitt season 1 is available to watch on HBO Max in the UK now. Season 2 continues releasing new episodes weekly on Thursdays. Subscribe to HBO Max from £5.99 a month.
