The full second season of The Undeclared War is now available to stream on Channel 4, and while the central plotline is, in many ways, wrapped up, there are still certainly threads hanging and potential avenues to explore.
So will the drama return for a third season? Well, if the cast have their way then it certainly will, as Simon Pegg has told Radio Times that it could “absolutely” come back.
Pegg said: “I’ve had a couple of conversations with the writer about where we could go next, in terms of what the status quo is at the end of the series. Obviously, everything’s changed.”
Meanwhile, his co-star Hannah Khalique-Brown, who has played Saara in both seasons, agreed that there’s “definitely scope” for a season 3.
“There are definitely options and plot lines that could be explored,” Khalique-Brown added. “The scope is there, for sure. Whether or not it happens, we don’t know.”
“I love doing the show,” Pegg said. “It’s so much fun, and I love the writing. Going from being in a very fantastical kind of spy story in Mission: Impossible to this, which is much more grounded but no less intriguing – because this is real. All the gadgets in this exist. There’s no fantasy in this. It’s all rooted in reality.”
The show’s second season arrived four years after the first, which aired back in 2022 and also starred Adrian Lester and Mark Rylance.

This new run of the show introduced Siân Brooke as Barbara, the wife of Pegg’s character, Danny. It also introduced new central characters played by Chloe Pirrie and Danny Sapani.
Season 2 also had a new set of creatives behind the camera, with Colin Teevan taking over writing duties from the show’s original creator, Peter Kosminsky.
