Andrew Lincoln’s thriller Coldwater will not be returning for more episodes, ITV has confirmed.
The six-part series, which aired back in September 2025 and starred Lincoln in the leading role, followed middle-aged man John who moves his family to rural Scotland after a traumatic incident in London.
However, he soon lives to regret the relocation thanks to his neighbours Tommy (Ewan Bremner) and wife Rebecca (Eve Myles), who are harbouring dark secrets.
ITV said in a statement: “We’re hugely proud of Coldwater and everyone involved in making it.
“Whilst there are currently no plans for a further series, we loved bringing this story to screen.”
Penned by David Ireland (The Lovers), the series also stars Indira Varma as John’s wife, Fiona, while the likes of Samuel Bottomley, Abigail Lawrie and Sanjeev Kohli round out the cast.
The show received mixed reviews from critics, with Radio Times’ review calling it “the kind of thriller that keeps you in a chokehold from the opening moments of the first episode, and refuses to let go until the end”, but adding that “every now and again” the series does “something so wild it throws you out of the realistic world that’s been created”.

Speaking to Radio Times about how the series explores the topic of toxic masculinity through stay-at-home dad John, Varma previously said: “John is completely beguiled by this charismatic man [Tommy] who he thinks represents true manhood, you know, which is what he’s kind of clawing his way back to.”
She continued: “I think this is a theme that David looks at, which is masculinity in today’s society, and the idea of the wife, Fiona, in this case, being the successful breadwinner.
“It’s sort of slightly emasculating for John, them having two young kids and being a slightly reluctant stay-at-home dad in a very still predominantly female world.”
