“Remarkable achievements can only be achieved by outstanding figures.” Oh my, that’s a bold statement! Well Go USA has revealed the official trailer for a Chinese war movie called Crossing, also known as Four Crossings, which pretty much plays like Chinese propaganda about the winning side of this battle. Not to be confused with John Woo’s recent film The Crossing. This is set for US run in limited theaters this July, after first opening in China starting this week. Based on a true story about what really happened during this war maneuver. Caught in a 400,000-soldier encirclement, the Chinese Red Army relies on a strategic river crossing to survive. Amidst the chaos, an old soldier with a sacred vow and a homeless orphan discover the true meaning of devotion and sacrifice. It’s about Mao Zedong’s famous “Battle of Chishui River” in 1935, where he crosses the river four times to outmaneuver the enemy troops. Crossing stars Ye Liu, Lei Wang, Yosh Yu, and Zhifei Wang. This looks like a full-on epic war movie with massive scale and tons of major battles depicted to tell this classic story of how the Red Army came out victorious in this battle on the river.
Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Xu Zhanxiong’s war movie Crossing, direct from YouTube:

“The only way through is Crossing.” After the bloody Xiang River battle during the Long March in 1934, the Chinese Red Army faces a massive force of 400,000 enemy troops. Shifting tactics, the leadership guides the cornered men through the legendary four river crossings at Chishui in an effort to outmaneuver the enemy. Amidst the chaos, a veteran clinging to a sacred vow and a homeless orphan fighting just to survive forge an unbreakable bond on the frontlines. Crossing, also known as Four Crossings or 四渡 in Mandarin, is directed by Chinese filmmaker Xu Zhanxiong, also director of the films Wild Grass, The Pioneer, and Burning Stars previously. The screenplay is written by Yi Liu. Produced by Dong Yu. The film releases first in China starting this week. Well Go USA then will debut Xu Zhanxiong’s Crossing in select US theaters starting July 10th, 2026 coming up this summer. For info, visit the official site. Anyone into this?
