Belgium face off against Iran in Group G on Sunday night in Los Angeles, with Rudi Garcia’s side eyeing their first win at this World Cup.

The European side played out a 1-1 draw against Egypt in their group opener in a game many expected them to win. Egypt took the lead after 20 minutes but the Red Devils equalised just after the hour mark with Romelu Lukaku forcing Mohamed Hany’s own goal.

Garcia’s men, who have reached the quarter-finals or better at two of the previous three World Cups, are still the favourites to top Group G given their final two fixtures against Iran and New Zealand.
Iran, meanwhile, came from behind twice in their Group G opener against New Zealand to see it finish 2-2, with Mohammad Mohebi’s second-half goal earning them a point.
With Belgium and Egypt likely to be battling for first and second, Iran’s best chance of reaching the knockout stages may be by qualifying as one of the third-best teams.
