Celtic are looking to bag their first pre-season victory when they welcome Middlesbrough to Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon.

Hoops legend Martin O’Neill has been confirmed as permanent manager after working his magic to lead the club to the Scottish Premiership and Cup double on an interim basis amid last term’s chaos.

Celtic began their summer schedule with a 1-1 draw against Irish outfit Shelbourne before being hammered 4-1 by Sporting CP as new signing Camilo Duran struck on his maiden outing in Portugal on Tuesday.

Middlesbrough have also spent time warm-weather training in Portugal and the trip to Glasgow represents their first pre-season friendly in front of fans after signing off the camp with a 2-2 draw against SC Farense last week.

Boro’s target for the season is winning promotion to the Premier League, although Kim Hellberg’s side have to bounce back from defeat in last term’s Championship play-off final after being reinstated amid the Southampton ‘Spygate’ drama.
