Netherlands and Japan face off in their World Cup Group F opener on Sunday evening in Dallas, Texas.

Ronald Koeman’s side, who went unbeaten in qualifying by winning six and drawing two of their eight outings, are the favourites to top the group ahead of Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia.
Netherlands have a decent record at the World Cup as they’ve finished runners-up on three occasions. They’ve always made it out of the group stage and they reached the quarter-finals in Qatar in 2022.
Koeman’s men are expected to reach the round of 16 at least and they’ll fancy their chances against any side this summer after scoring an impressive 27 goals in their eight qualifiers.
Japan look to be in a battle with Sweden to finish second behind Netherlands in Group F, however, they could qualify by finishing third as the eight best third-placed teams progress to the round of 32 at this expanded World Cup.
They topped their qualifying group ahead of Australia and Saudi Arabia, are appearing in their eighth consecutive World Cup and they’re hoping to better their best-ever finish of reaching the round of 16.
