Anthony Joshua is set for his long-awaited return to the boxing ring as the heavyweight division continues to stir from its slumber.

The two-time former heavyweight champion takes on Kristian Prenga in his first fight since the car crash in 2025 that took the lives of two of his close friends.

Billed as ‘Danger Before Destiny’, Joshua’s comeback is expected to be a step on the path to a long-awaited Battle of Britain against Tyson Fury.

The undercard will also see two Brits – IBF light-middleweight champion Josh Kelly and WBO super middleweight Hamzah Sheeraz – defend their titles for the first time.

Prenga is a 6ft5 Albanian knock-out specialist who weighs in above 260 pounds, which is bigger than Joshua and should help him prepare for fighting Fury.

The 35-year-old has a 20-1 career record. His only defeat came on points against Giovanni Auriemma in 2017, while all 20 of his victories have been stoppages.

Prenga is yet to fight anyone notable and heads into his fight against Joshua as the heavy underdog but is backing himself to cause an upset.

He said: “Anthony Joshua is a great fighter, but he made a terrible miscalculation in picking me as his opponent. This is the kind of fight that changes everything in my life and his.

“I know they have big plans ahead after this fight. I know they are overlooking me. I’m happy about that. I will derail their plans and shock the world this July in Saudi Arabia.”
